ISS Teams and Areas of Responsibility

ISS is organized into four primary teams. Each team has defined areas of responsibility, but technology services frequently involve more than one team. Employees should expect regular collaboration across these areas.

Administrative Systems

Administrative Systems manages and supports many of the College's core administrative and enterprise applications.

Responsibilities include areas such as:

  • Colleague ERP
  • Enterprise and administrative applications
  • Application integrations
  • Reporting and decision-support systems
  • Systems that support College business processes
  • Application development, configuration, and support

Administrative Systems works closely with College departments to support the applications and data used to operate the institution.

Customer Support Services

Customer Support Services (CSS) provides frontline and end-user technology support to students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities include areas such as:

  • Technology Help Desk services
  • Computer and device setup
  • Hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Computer repair and maintenance
  • Software installation and support
  • Classroom and media technology
  • Assistance with common College technology services

The Help Desk serves as a primary point of contact for members of the MCC community who need technology assistance. Should anyone need help, they should email helpdesk@mclennan.edu. The Help Desk will assign tickets to the correct team.

Cybersecurity & Online Technologies

Cybersecurity & Online Technologies helps protect the College's information, systems, accounts, and technology resources.

Responsibilities include areas such as:

  • Cybersecurity monitoring and incident response
  • Security risk and vulnerability management
  • Security awareness and compliance
  • Protection of sensitive information and digital resources
  • Web applications and online services
  • Security-related technology and access controls

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility across ISS, but this team provides specialized security expertise and leadership.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure maintains the core technology environment that allows College systems and services to operate and communicate.

Responsibilities include areas such as:

  • Network and wireless services
  • Servers and infrastructure systems
  • Telecommunications
  • Data-center and systems infrastructure
  • Connectivity
  • Availability and reliability of core technology services

Much of the Infrastructure team's work occurs behind the scenes but provides the foundation on which other College technology services depend.

One ISS Team

The team structure identifies areas of primary responsibility; it should not create barriers between employees or services.

An issue may begin with the Help Desk, involve Infrastructure, require a Cybersecurity review, and ultimately need an Administrative Systems change. Employees are expected to work across team boundaries when necessary to resolve problems and accomplish College goals.
