Department Distribution Lists and Group Communication

ISS maintains distribution lists and shared communication addresses for communicating with groups of employees.

The primary department addresses are described in the Department Contacts and Distribution Lists section. This section explains how they should be used.

iss@mclennan.edu

iss@mclennan.edu reaches the entire ISS team.

Use this address when information is relevant to or needs the awareness of the department as a whole.

Examples may include:

  • Department-wide announcements.
  • Information that affects multiple ISS teams.
  • Significant service issues requiring department awareness.
  • Information employees throughout ISS need to know.
  • Department events or activities.

Do not use the entire ISS distribution list when the communication is relevant only to one employee or a small working group.

issleads@mclennan.edu

issleads@mclennan.edu reaches the ISS Leadership Team.

Use this address when information requires department leadership awareness, coordination, or action.

Employees should normally work through their immediate supervisor for matters involving their assignments, schedule, performance, or team operations.

Help Desk

Technology requests from the MCC community should normally be submitted by emailing helpdesk@mclennan.edu or by using the Help Desk ticket submission form. Both will add a request into the ticket system.

When someone contacts an individual ISS employee directly for technology assistance, the employee should follow the ISS Communications Standard and ensure that applicable work is captured in the ticket system.

Reply All

Employees should use Reply All only when everyone included in the conversation reasonably needs the response.

Before replying to a large group, consider whether:

  • The information benefits everyone receiving it.
  • Only the original sender needs the response.
  • A smaller group should continue the conversation.
  • A ticket, Teams conversation, or meeting would be a better place for further discussion.
