Reporting an Emergency
When an employee becomes aware of an emergency or serious situation on campus, the first responsibility is to protect personal safety and contact the appropriate emergency responders.
The College Emergency Response Plan directs employees and witnesses to contact MCC Campus Police:
Campus telephone: 8911
Cell or external telephone: 254-299-8911
If Campus Police cannot be contacted in a timely manner and outside emergency assistance is necessary, College emergency guidance permits calling 911.
Employees should provide the best information reasonably available about:
- What happened.
- Where it occurred.
- Whether anyone appears to be injured.
- Whether a continuing danger exists.
Employees should not investigate an emergency themselves unless directed to do so by Campus Police or other emergency personnel.
ISS Notification
Contacting an ISS supervisor or notifying the ISS team does not replace contacting Campus Police or emergency responders.
Once the immediate emergency has been reported and the employee is safe, the employee should notify their supervisor or the CITO when the situation affects their ability to work, affects ISS facilities or technology, or may require an ISS response.
