Required Employees and ISS Emergency Responsibilities
Certain College functions must continue during conditions when other operations are limited.
College Procedure CH-III defines required services as critical services and facilities necessary to maintain College business operations, physical operations, or safety. Employees designated as required employees are informed of that designation by their supervisor.
Because ISS operates technology that supports College operations and safety, some ISS employees may be designated as required employees.
As of now, only the CITO is designated as a required employee and is the only ISS employee designated as "on-call."
Employee Expectations
Employees designated as required should:
- Know in advance that they have been designated.
- Understand the responsibilities associated with their assignment.
- Maintain the ability to receive College and ISS emergency communications.
- Be prepared for remote work when operational conditions may change.
- Report as directed when required-service personnel are instructed to work on campus.
- Notify their supervisor if circumstances prevent them from reporting as directed.
Being a required employee does not mean that an employee should disregard unsafe conditions or emergency instructions. CH-III provides a process for required employees who are unable to report to notify their supervisor.
ISS Instructions
During an emergency or operational-state change, the CITO and ISS managers may provide additional instructions regarding staffing, system monitoring, remote work, technology support, or restoration activities.
Those instructions supplement, but do not supersede, directions from the President, Campus Police, Emergency/Risk Management, or other College officials responsible for the emergency.
