LockDown Browser on iPad

Overview

This article covers accessing the LockDown browser on iPads.

Getting Started

Exams that use LockDown Browser may be taken on an iPad if the instructor has enabled iPad access for the exam.

Exam Not Enabled on iPad

Each instructor controls for each class and quiz or exam if an iPad can be used. If you receive the message "Your instructor hasn't enabled the use of a tablet for this exam. You will need to use LockDown Browser on a Windows or Mac computer.", you may either:

  • Contact your instructor about using an iPad for the exam.
    • Note: MCC Tech Support is not able to enable iPad use for an exam.
  • Use a Windows, Mac, or Chromebook to complete the LockDown Browser exam. If your instructor does not enable the use of iPads for exams and you do not have access to a computer:
    • There are workstations in the library with the LockDown Browser already installed that you may use to complete your exam/quiz. If a web cam is required for the exam, the library also has web cams available for checkout. When using these workstations, select the link from within Brightspace to launch the browser (do not click the link to download/install the browser). The library's current business hours may be found here: https://www.mclennan.edu/library/
    • There is a technology loan program through the Learning Commons, with checkout laptops available to request (pending available inventory) that have the LockDown Browser already installed on them: https://www.mclennan.edu/academic-support-and-tutoring/tech-loan.html
