Duo Bypass code

Overview

The Bypass code is requested when accessing a service and there is not an authentication method that allows authentication on multiple devices.

If you do not have access to a backup device and your primary device is lost, damaged, or unavailable, or if you did not update your Duo authentication methods before switching to a new mobile device or changing phone numbers, you will need to contact the Help Desk by phone during business hours to regain access. Assistance is not available when the Help Desk is closed, and you may remain locked out, potentially missing assignments, exams, or important communications.

Getting Started

You will need to add a new authentication method to your Duo Account like a Duo Mobile or Call number option.

You must be on the device that you originally setup your Duo Account on, so that you can authenticate with your Face ID, passcode, fingerprint, or other authentication method you setup first.

You must be on the device that you originally setup your Duo Account on, so that you can authenticate with your Face ID, passcode, fingerprint, or other authentication method you setup first.

Most commonly a Face ID, passcode, fingerprint, or another non-number authentication method was used on Duo. Follow the steps below on the device you were on when you first setup Duo.

  1. Go to https://mclennan.login.duosecurity.com/devices and log into the Self-Service portal. Step by step instructions can be found at Manage Devices on Your Duo Account.
  2. Authenticate with your Face ID, passcode, fingerprint, or other non-number authentication method. You may need to click Other options to view them.
  3. Click new device.
  4. Add a Duo Mobile (App option and most recommended), or a new phone number.

If you do not have another device on your account, you will need to contact Help Desk at 254-299-8077 or in person during business hours to have your account updated.

Help Desk is only able to assist with bypass codes or account updates by phone or in person.
