Hardware Token: How to Use for MFA

This article covers how to use a Duo Hardware Token for multi-factor authentication (MFA).

What is a Hardware Token?
A hardware token is a small device with a green button to the left of an LED display. It is roughly the size of a USB thumb drive. The device is a rounded rectangular shape, with the words DUO printed on its front. On the back it has a written serial number of the device. Each number is unique.

How do I use a hardware token for MFA?
To use a hardware token for MFA, it must first be added as an additional device method to your account by ISS staff. The unique number on the back of your hardware token is assigned to you your Duo profile.
Once you attempt to sign into an MCC resource, a prompt will pop up on your screen requesting a passcode from the hardware token.
NOTE: You may see the screen reflect your previous MFA method. You will have to click on the link "Other Options" (see below image) to select the hardware token method.
Press the green button to display a six digit code. This will time out after 1 minute..
Enter the displayed six digit code into the Passcode field, select the Verify button on the screen and you will be logged in. Congratulations!
