Manage Devices on Your Duo Account

Overview

This article covers adding additional and alternative authentication methods to your account to avoid getting locked out of your account if you lose access to one of your authentication types or devices.

If you do not have access to a backup device and your primary device is lost, damaged, or unavailable, or if you did not update your Duo authentication methods before switching to a new mobile device or changing phone numbers, you will need to contact the Help Desk by phone during business hours to regain access. Assistance is not available when the Help Desk is closed, and you may remain locked out, potentially missing assignments, exams, or important communications.

Getting Started

You must first access the self-service portal before trying to add any additional authentication methods to your account. Once you are logged in, you may add additional authentication methods in the Authentication Methods section of this article.

Access Self-Service Portal

Authentication Methods

Duo Mobile and phone call authentication configured on the same device is considered a single MFA device and not separate primary and backup methods.

Duo Mobile- Recommended

Phone Call

Add a phone number to your Duo account without using the App. This is not recommended as the Phone call option is not as robust as the Duo Mobile App. If you choose to authenticate via a phone call but are not getting the call, please check this article for instructions Not Getting Duo Phone Calls?.
