Keep getting Unexpected Duo Calls or App Requests

Overview

If you get unexpected Duo authentication calls or the Duo app keeps asking for unexpected action on your phone, it may mean your password has been stolen and your account is at risk. Do not approve these requests, because doing so would give the attacker full access to your account.

Do not approve the unexpected Duo request, even to make the notifications or calls stop.

Getting Started

To stop these unwanted Duo Authentication requests, you will need to change your password.

  1. Go to Forgot Password.
  2. Using the link in that article, change your password to something different.
  3. Confirm you have updated your password on all services. More information can be found at Preventing Account Lockouts After Password Reset.
  4. After you reset your password, the attackers won’t be able to log in or trigger Duo authentication requests, and the unwanted calls and app notifications should stop.
