Security Text Alerts
Overview
The Cybersecurity team at McLennan Community College (MCC) uses security text alerts through Mongoose to share urgent security information with students.
These messages may include phishing warnings, scam alerts, or other important cybersecurity notices. If you opted out before, you could opt back in at any time.
Getting Started
Follow the steps below to opt back in to MCC cybersecurity text alerts.
Opt Back in to Text Alerts
Send a text message to rejoin security alerts.
- Open the text messaging app on your phone.
- Start a new text message at (254) 284-7056.
- Type START, YES, or UNSTOP in the message body.
- Send the message.
- You will be opted back in to receive cybersecurity text alerts
Additional Details
- Any capitalization is accepted when sending START, YES, or UNSTOP.
- The MCC Cybersecurity Team will only message you when the alert is urgent and important.
- Students are automatically signed up to receive text alerts unless they previously opted out.
- Current security alerts may also be posted on the IT HUB.
