GeoIP Blocking - For Travel
Overview
MCC’s network, email, and other internet-facing services are targeted by cyberattacks every day. Some countries generate a higher volume of suspicious or malicious activity, including automated attacks, phishing attempts, and unauthorized access attempts. Geographic IP Blocking helps reduce this risk by blocking traffic from selected countries before it reaches designated MCC services. This reduces exposure to high-risk traffic sources and helps lower the number of security incidents requiring investigation.
Services With GeoIP Blocking Capabilities
The following MCC services can block network traffic based on geographic IP location. These services use the same blocked-country list.
- Duo Multi-Factor Authentication
- MCC Firewall
- Barracuda Email Filter
- Microsoft 365
- Zoom
