Setting up User’s Voicemail
Log into Cisco Unity
Cisco Unity Connection Administration (unityadmin)
Use your own credential if you have them.
Determine if mail box exist
Select User
“Limit search to”: Select Partition, “Display Primary and Alternate Extensions in Selected Partitions” should be selected.
“Fined Users where” Extension begins with: enter the extension you are looking for, click Find
If there are no results the voicemail box does not exist and you will have to add it.
Test the voicemail by dialing * and the four-digit extension. You should hear “Hello, Cisco Unity Messaging System”
If the extension does exist you determine if the new user is replacing the old user and delete the mail box.
Delete the old mail box
If the extension exist it should be listed after clicking Find above.
Click the box next to the old user’s alias and click the Delete Selected button.
Add a User
Click Add New
“User Type” should be Users With Mailbox
“Based on Templated*” select voicemailusertemplate from the drop down.
I open the user’s information from the GAL in Outlook.
I copy the email address and past it into the following fields:
· Alias*
· SMTP Address
· Corporate Email Address
Enter the extension in the “Extension*” field.
I then remove @mclennan.edu from the Alisa and SMTP address fields.
Enter the “First Name” and “Last Name” in the appropriate fields. The “Display Name” field should auto populate with the first and last name.
Click Save button
Status should indicate Created User.
Select Edit tab and Unified Messaging Accounts
Select Add New
Select “Use Corporate Email Address: “
Click Save button
Test voicemail extension by dialing * and the four-digit extension. You should hear Sorry Users Name is not available. Record you message at the tone.
