Setting up User’s Phone

Log into Cisco Unified CM Administration

https://10.59.110.11:8443/ccmadmin

Cisco Unified CM Administration (cucmadministrator)

Use your own credential if you have them.

Determine if the phone exist

Select User Device>Phone from the tab

Change the “Find Phone where” dropdown to Directory Number, enter the extension in the blank field and click Find.

If a phone with that extension exist it will be listed.  Extensions may appear on multiple desk and soft phones. The desk phone with the (1) at the end of the Device Name is the one you are probably looking for. The Display on all the other line appearance will also need to be updated. Continue with updating an existing desk phone.

If the desk phone does not exist see Adding a New Desk Instrument.

Updating an Existing Desk Phone

Select the desired instrument from the list by clicking on the Device Name.

Replace the “Description” with the user’s first and last name.

Click Save and then OK on the popup warning.

Scroll down to “Owner” and click the radial button for “User”. Click the Find button.

Search for the user in the “Find and List User” popup window by entering the users first name in the field and clicking the Find button if necessary.

Check the box next to the appropriate “User ID” and click the Add Selected button. The “Find and List User” window closes and takes you back to the Phone Configuration window.

Click Save and then OK on the popup warning.

Update the Line Appearance

Click on the appropriate extension line button

Replace the “Alerting Name” and “ASCII Alerting Name” with the user’s first and last name.

Scroll down to the Line on Device box and update the Display (Caller ID) and ASCII Display (Caller ID) with the user’s first and last name.

Enter an appropriate Line Text Label. A name and a dash and the extension.

Click Save button

Scroll back to the bottom and click Associate End User. The Find and List Users window opens. Check the box next to the appropriate user and click Add Selected. The Find and List Users window closes and takes you back to the Directory Number Configuration window.
