Student Name Change Request - Current Students

Overview

If you are a current student who has taken a class at MCC or applied within the last one (1) year and need to update your legal and/or preferred name, you will follow the steps below to request a name change.

Getting Started

  •  Log in at https://mymcc.mclennan.edu/.
  • Select the User Icon with your Username button at the top, right of the page. 
  • Select User Profile.
  • Select the red 'Student Information Change Form' link that is directly above the Addresses section. 
  • To sign in to the form, enter your full MCC student email address (e.g. ab0123456@students.mclennan.edu), click Continue, and then sign in using your MCC username (e.g. ab0123456) and current MCC password (the same password used to sign in to Brightspace, MyMCC, and student email).
  • Once the form has been submitted, Student Records will update your name which will then propagate to your MCC accounts within two business days. 
  • Please monitor your student email account for any communication from them regarding the request.

Additional Details

  • Please Note: This process can cause Brightspace login issues until all systems are updated to reflect the new name!

Former Students

If you have not been accepted or taken a class at MCC in over one (1) year, follow the How to Complete a Student Name Change Request - Former Students article to request a name change. After one (1) year, access is limited to MyMCC to access your academic profile and tax information so you would be unable to sign into the system used for the online name change form.
