Procedure Update: Retiring MCC-Students Wi-Fi
Retiring the MCC-Students Wi-Fi
The way you connect to campus Wi-Fi is changing. Instead of using a separate student network and navigating through a web page, you’ll now join the same network as our staff and faculty: McLennan.
All you'll need to do is select the network, enter your student username and password, and you're online—no more captive portal.
Why is This Being Changed?
We're moving from the captive portal to a more secure, reliable login method (802.1x). For Information Systems & Services, this means better performance, stronger encryption, and fewer connection interruptions. For you, this means:
- Less work for students who need to get on the Wi-Fi
- Less confusion on who can connect to what
- Newer, stronger security for your connected devices through that better encryption
What Do I Need to Do to Log In Now?
Since students will now be utilizing the same login method as employees, they can now reference the preexisting IT Hub article on connecting to the McLennan Wi-Fi.

When is MCC-Students Going Away?
Students will be able to begin using McLennan on June 12th, 2025. To ensure everyone has plenty of time to get used to the new method, MCC-Students will stay an option to connect to until the end of the Fall semester, December 12th, 2025. After this day, all employees and students will need to connect to McLennan access campus Wi-Fi.
This change does not affect the MCC-Guest network. If you don't have an MCC account or your device is incompatible with the McLennan Wi-Fi network, you will still have access to MCC-Guest.
