Wi-Fi Network: McLennan

Overview

These instructions are to connect to the McLennan Wi-Fi network. This is intended to be accessible for faculty, staff, and students. 

If you change your password, you must update it on the McLennan network on your laptop or mobile device. You can do this by editing the saved password or by forgetting the network and reconnecting. If you do not, your MCC account will be locked because the old password will continue trying to connect.

Getting Started

Standard Connections

  1. Find the McLennan SSID in your device's Wi-Fi settings and start the connection.
  2. Upon connecting, a window should appear prompting you to enter your username and password. Once you enter this, you will be fully connected to the Wi-Fi.
  • Employees: For most employees, your username be the first initial of your first name followed by your last name (e.g. jdoe).
  • Students: Your username be the first initial of your first and last name + 7-digit MCC ID number (e.g. jd0123456).

Advanced Connections

Some devices, such as Android phones, require more information to connect to the McLennan SSID. If your device prompts you for more information than a username and password when connecting to the McLennan SSID, please refer to the settings below.

  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • CA Certificate: Use System Certificates
  • Online Certificate Status: Do not validate
  • Domain: mclennan.edu OR mclennan
  • Identity: Your MCC username
  • If your device has advanced options, you may need to set Privacy to 'Use Device MAC'

Policy

  • For personal-owned devices, please turn off wireless while on campus or use the MCC-Guest wireless network.
  • Student personal devices may use the MCC-Students network. Instructions to connect to this network can be found at Wi-Fi Network: MCC-Students.
  • Personal-owned cellphones may be connected to the McLennan Network. 

Troubleshooting

"Can't connect to this network" Error

  1. Please turn the device off for twenty (20) minutes then turn back on.
  2. Reconnect to the McLennan network.
